Today Thursday was the first day that Bee Sustainable has had registration to permit the packing and sale of honey to customers. The council, as they should, are quite rigorous in ensuring premises are of a standard to allow the safe handling of food; in this case honey. Great effort has been expended in understanding and implementing the changes to the Bee Sustainable shop so that honey may be packed on site.
This means that customers may now bring in their own jar or container and have it filled thus reducing packaging and saving the cost of a container. Jars may be purchased if the customer does not have a suitable container. Currently there are four varieties of honey on offer starting at a price of $10 per kilo for Manna Gum.
